Event Details

Stephanie Artz of Lake Village, AR will be presenting a FREE 6 hour Professional Development on Saturday, September 10th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Melissa Manning Administrative Building for educators in Greenville Public and Western Line School District; non-GAP educators can attend the workshop for $60. CEU credits are available for all interested participants.

Stephanie Artz will be hosting a Saturday workshop on integrating dance and yoga with math and social studies. Her lessons will align to the new social studies frameworks and will show educators how to use movement to help students express themselves while learning.

Stephanie Artz was a ballet dancer in the Ballet Arts Ensemble in Nashua, New Hampshire from 1979-1984. She moved to New York City in 1990 adding modern and post modern dance to her training. She also teaches yoga, authentic movement, (Jungian-based contemplative movement practice), and contact improvisation (dance form utilizing partner contact and weight-sharing between two or more people). She is a certified Trager (movement re-education) Practitioner since 1994 and Usui Reiki Master (stress-reducing technique) since 2001.

She lives in Arkansas with her husband Mark Howell, Director of Winterville Mounds Park and Museum in Greenville, MS and New York City where she continues to teach and perform. She offers classes for K-12 in dance, movement, partnering, and authentic movement tied to curriculum including but not limited to life sciences, creative writing, poetry, history and mathematics. She also conducts teacher’s workshops on how to integrate physical movement into classroom lessons. (from the Mississippi Arts Commission's Artist Roster)
